Go to "options" and then go to "cheats." Now, cheats are entered completely differently in the third installment. You now have to strum with the frets on just like normal playing. Two or more notes in parentheses indicate a chord.

Hyper Speed

To get this code go to the cheat screen, under the options menu, and play: Orange, Blue, Orange, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Orange, Yellow.

Hyperspeed

To unlock Hyperspeed, go to the in-game cheat menu (found under Options) and insert the following cheat on your guitar: Orange, Blue, Orange, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Orange, Yellow.

Boss Characters

To unlock any boss characters as playable character, simply beat them in the game and they will become unlocked.

Air Guitar

To unlock the Air Guitar, insert the following notes in the Options menu: Blue & Yellow, Green & Yellow x2, Red & Blue x2, Red & Yellow x2, Blue & Yellow, Green & Yellow x2, Red & Blue x2, Red & Yellow x2, Green & Yellow x2, Red & Yellow x2.

All Songs (Quick Play Mode)

Precision Mode

Performance Mode

To unlock Performance Mode, insert the following notes in the Options menu: Red & Yellow, Red & Blue, Red & Orange, Red & Blue, Red & Yellow, Green & Blue, Red & Yellow, Red & Blue.

Through the Fire and Flames

To unlock the track "Through the Fire and Flames", beat the game.

In the Through The Fire And Flames introduction, before you start wrap a rubber band around Green. By doing this, you will not have to worry about holding Green; it does it for you. Make sure you press the other buttons quickly so that Green can register. If you hold the buttons as you do the hammer-ons, Green will not register, and you will fail.

Guitarists

You can unlock Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine), Slash (of Guns N Roses/Velvet Revolver), Lou (the Devil in the game), and a character called MetalHead by beating them in the game and then purchasing them for $10,000 (Lou costs $15,000).

Moon Shot Guitar

To unlock the Moon Shot guitar, complete Career Mode on Easy.

Songs (Normal)

To unlock songs in the normal fashion, simply pass the song successfully. It will thereafter be unlocked.

Saint George Guitar

To unlock the Saint George guitar, complete Career Mode on Medium.

Nemesis 13 Guitar

To unlock the Nemesis 13 Guitar, complete Co-Op Career Mode on any difficulty.

Rojimbo Guitar

To unlock the Rojimbo Guitar, complete Career Mode on Hard difficulty.

Distant Visitor Guitar

To unlock the Distant Visitor Guitar, complete Career Mode on Expert difficulty.

Jolly Roger Guitar

To unlock the Jolly Roger Guitar, get five stars on each song during Career Mode on Medium difficulty.

Bat Guitar

To unlock the Bat Guitar, get five stars on each song during Career Mode on Easy difficulty.

Tiki Guitar

To unlock the Tiki Guitar, complete Career Mode on hard with five stars.

Beach Life Bass

To unlock the Beach Life Bass, complete Co-op Mode on hard.

PendulAxe Bass

To unlock the PendulAxe Bass, complete Co-op Mode on expert.

Neversoft Skateboard

To unlock the Neversoft Skateboard, complete Co-Op Mode on expert with five stars.

El Jefe Guitar

To unlock the El Jefe Guitar, complete Career Mode on expert with five stars.

Battle Lou in Easy Mode

To battle with Lou using Easy Mode notes, try the following. When the battle with Lou begins (on Expert Mode), strum without holding any frets down. When you lose, select the Tutorial option at the Game Over menu. Do the Guitar Battle Tutorial and play through it in its entirety. After the "Lesson Complete" message appears on-screen and the next fret board appears, pause the game and exit. This will bring you back to the Lessons menu. From here, press the red button, which will bring you back to the list of

Wii Remote Usage

If you want to play this game with a friend on your Wii and don't have a spare guitar, you can play the game using the Wii Remote. Here's how the buttons correspond:

B Button - Green
Right (D-Pad) - Red
A Button - Yellow
1 Button - Blue
2 Button - Orange

Mad Izzy

Pick Izzy and pick any guitar and any place. Pick a hard song like through the fire and the flames and play It. If you fail it at the end Izzy might stick up his middle finger up at the drummer.

Large Gems

Go to the screen where you enter your cheats and enter the following code:

Predator reference

There is a reference to the movie Predator in the song "Helicopter". After playing the song, go to the "More Stats" screen, or to Practice mode and get to the screen where you choose what section to play. One of the sections in the song is called "Get Back To The Choppa!!!" which seems to be a reference to Arnold Schwarzenneger's line in Predator, when they are all running away from the Predator.

Iron Maiden reference

"22 Acadia Avenue" is a song name by the band Iron Maiden. You can see this in the first venue of Career mode.

Easy Online mode

During an online vs. match (Face Off), the meter bar in the middle of the screen shows who is winning by the most points. To get more points, hold the whammy bar down while you play. The whammy bar gets you more points on long notes, but on short ones it is hard to hit. Hold the whammy bar to get all of them.

Easy battle power survival

When in a battle (either online or in Career mode), if you are playing against your opponent under the same difficultly setting, when they attack you with their battle power, look at their side of the screen. The notes will be the same and easy to see.

Hammering on and pulling off

Hammering On and Pulling Off happens when you can strum on one note and successfully hit the notes that come after it without using the strum bar. Look for the single notes with white rings on top instead of black rings. As long as you hit the previous note, you can hit the next note by pressing the correct fret button. This is especially useful on songs like Cult of Personality under the Hard difficulty setting.

Alternate controls

When using as a Wiimote as a second controller, press the following buttons to emulate a guitar controller.

Green: Press B.
Red: Press Right.
Yellow: Press A.
Blue: Press 1.
Orange: Press 2.

Troubleshooting the whammy bar

Try the following steps if your whammy bar does not work.

First, try calibrating the whammy bar. Go to "Options" at the main menu. Go to "Guitar", then to "Calibrate Whammy". Use your whammy bar a few times. If the drawing does not show a complete skeleton of the man pointing down at the woman, leave your whammy bar at its resting place (when not in use) then press Green. Use your whammy bar again.
