Will the next Guild Wars instalment be the last for NCsoft's subscription-free MMO?
US-based The Inquirer has today suggested that NCsoft will be releasing a fourth instalment in the Guild Wars saga towards the end of the year, apparently called Eye of the Night.
According to the report, Eye of the Night will return players to Tyria, the land last seen in Guild Wars: Prophecies (the first instalment), and act as a conclusion to the title. The article states that NCsoft are working on a fully-fledged sequel to the MMO, which has been pencilled in for release during 2009/10, and will take place several hundred years after the original Guild Wars.
NCsoft are yet to officially announce the next Guild Wars expansion, along with The Inquirer's mooted follow-up.

GW has the best PvP system and game mechanics. GW GvG >PvP in every other game. WoW PvE may be more entertaining to some grind-lovers.

If they make it so that we have to pay to play, they will loose TONS of business! What makes Guildwars so unique is the free online play, and taking that away would be like putting guildwars down. Rusty syringe and all!

I'm guessing you LIVE in Europe.. I kinda thing it's more like America but hey, to each his own. I think Guild Wars is a decent game (I only own the first installment.) I haven't yet played all the way through, but I do like the fact that it's basically a single-player game that you can play with friends. It's a very large single player game, too. The story gets a little murky after you get past the mountain ranges, though. I've been considering whether or not I'll purchase Factions or Nightfall. I'll probably check out Nightfall since it sounds more like the original game. They did a decent job with the game and have proven that you don't need to charge huge monthly fees to run an online MMORPG. It makes one thing "Then why does WoW and EQ cost so much per month just so I can keep my character from being deleted?"
