ArenaNet confirms the identities of the first guild champions together with details of the next competition...

Guild Wars developers ArenaNet has today announced the winning guild in the inaugural Guild Wars Championship as The Last Pride (EvIL) from Korea. Battling against five other guilds from across the world at the Taipei Games Show in Taiwan, The Last Pride managed to defeat the War Machine (WM) guild in the final to take home the $50,000 prize.

In addition, ArenaNet has confirmed that the next World Championship, Guild Wars Factions Championship Series, will begin on March 7th. Following a format of three seasons of four weeks each, with every season ending with a tournament for the top 16 guilds, five invitations will be made to attend the Guild Wars Factions Championship (GWFC) in August 2006. The first Campaign pack to be released for Guild Wars, Factions is set to introduce a range of new gameplay features together with two new professions, the Assassin and the Ritualist.

Every guild to make an end-of-season will receive points and prizes, with the five Championship finalists standing a chance of winning more than $100,000 in front of a live audience.

We'll have more on Guild Wars Factions very soon...
