The biggest update yet for Gran Turismo 5 adds cockpit views for 'Standard' car models...
Weighing in at a massive 1.1GB (that's almost as big as the whole Gran Turismo PSP game), Polyphony Digital's latest and largest update for Gran Turismo 5 is now available over PSN.
Update 2.0's most significant addition is cockpit views for the 800+ 'Standard' car models in the game. The lack of a cockpit view for the majority of cars in the game has been something of a sore spot for fans, although these new cockpit views are not as detailed as their 'Premium' counterparts. According to GTPlanet, the dashboard is denoted by a silhouette and the instruments are generic.
The update is free and also adds 11 new NASCAR vehicles to the game as well as the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motor Sports car – some of you may recall that this is the GT-R that Gran Turismo's principal developer, Kazunori Yamauchi drove to a class victory in the Nurburgring 24 hour race earlier this year.
Rounding off the improvements are a range of much requested user-interface changes such as the addition of rewind and fast-forward controls in replay videos and the ability to save multiple car settings – you can find a full round-up of the changes over at the GTPlanet link above.
At the same time the US Gran Turismo site has detailed the first paid DLC for GT5, which players can now access directly from the game's main menu thanks to update 2.0. There are micro-transaction style paint and racing gear packs, as well as a track pack that includes the famous Spa Francorchamps circuit and a car pack that includes this year's version of the Red Bull X racer.
