PSTwo Release Date Rumours News

Itâ??s been previously reported that Sony has registered â??PSTwoâ? as a brand in 2003, which has inevitably led to rumours and hearsay that the company are planning to release a redesigned PlayStation2, much in the same way that they did with the PlayStation.

Whilst Sony hasnâ??t commented publicly that a more compact version of their current generation console will be released, there are some within the industry that believe the redesigned console may arrive sooner than we think. Global supplies of the present PlayStation2 are running low, and the recent price drops have meant that the console is currently in high demand.

Before everybody gets excited though, just remember that the PSone didnâ??t actually launch until the release of the original PlayStation2. Itâ??s also worth pointing out that we are currently only 6 weeks away from the â??releaseâ?? of the console, and that no confirmation has been received from Sony at all. If they were to release the PSTwo, it would make sense that they would follow a similar strategy and release the console around the same time as the PlayStation3. The fact that Xbox is currently experiencing increased sales, and the release of Halo 2 on Microsoftâ??s console, may mean that Sony will take the plunge and unveil the PSTwo in an attempt to steal Microsoftâ??s thunder.
