Rare dashes fans hope that an Xbox Live Arcade remake will ever materialise...

We might be the only people on the planet to think like this, but we were never that excited by the possibility of an Xbox Live GoldenEye remake in the first place.  Yeah, it brought multiplayer shooting action to the consoles and was a pretty good movie adaptation, but they were better shooters around and it's always best to leave some things as they were.

Still fans' demands for the adaptation were dashed today, with a message from Rare have moved beyond the stage where an agreement was on the cards.

Responding to such a question, Rare commented:

"That was some time ago, my friend. Fate was against us that day. Destiny conspired to raise the hurdles even as we attempted to clear them, resulting in unpleasant groinal injury. I suspect we're long past the stage where an agreement was on the cards, but you never know. Stranger things have happened... somewhere ... probably."

Ah well...

it may have been a nintendo game first, but it was developed by RARE who are now owned by Microsoft. Therefor microsoft should have no problem releasing it. I still dig my old N64 out sometimes and give goldeneye another run through

Duuude! I totally loved Goldeneye for the N64! They should work out their issues and put it on XBLA! I would freak out if I could play Goldeneye again! I miss it and my N64. They got deported to some country in Europe. And it's all my mom's fault...
