Sony Santa Monica's God of War III is running at a sustained 60 frames per second...
We've already heard about how amazing God of War III looks, which will no doubt be helped by news that the game's Sony Santa Monica dev team is currently running the game at a sustained 60 frames per second.
This news comes from GDC in San Francisco, where the game's programmers were espousing its ability to run at the higher frame rate echelons according to Kotaku, although they did concede that it has to drop down as low as 30 FPS at times.
In other God of War III news that's floating around the net from GDC (it's a bit re-hashed, but probably worth re-iterating), the game's programmers spoke about Titan creatures that seem to act almost like the Colossi in Team Ico's Shadow of the Colossus.
These Titans are seemingly "large scale creatures that move around," and are apparently "just big levels", which sounds a lot like Colossi to us.
Tod Pappy, God of War III's Design Director, also described the game's new rideable creatures (such as the harpy and Cyclops) on the US PlayStation blog.
"The harpy acts almost like a helicopter," he said, while adding that, "you can jab it and get it to go forward, or it'll go up. We're going to create nav challenges around that, so large expanses that you have to get across and a new way to mix combat and navigation together."
"If the harpy is the helicopter, then the Cyclops is the tank," he went on. "We just wanted that big brute force that you can get on and knock people out of the arena . . . It's really just about wrecking the battlefield and clearing your way through."
Pappy described Titans as the "bread and butter of God of War III", and explained that the rideable creatures will "stem from the Titans", suggesting that gamers will essentially be "riding a creature that's riding a creature".
Sounds exciting.

lol night vision goggles i got em for £30 also you can now get mw2 nvg pack for £85, ps anyone played the crap gt5 demo yet lol how can you justify a game like gt by giving people a demo thats just over 200mb and thats gt5 not gt5p if sony are realy serious about the ps3 they should have given a demo a lot more thought than what they have for gt5.

There is no faulting the God of War series - even the PSP's Chains of Olympus is awesome. The latest God of War 3 trailer looks stunning - here's hoping the story and gameplay are still spot-on ;-)
