God of War III's Director, Stig Asmussen hints at the sort of downloadable content that might be released for the game...
While challenge rooms have featured in the boxed retail versions of previous God of War games, where they've provided extra content aside from the main campaign, the first new title in the series to land on Sony's PS3 platform may dish out additional challenge content for the game via DLC.
This is according to God of War III's Director, Stig Asmussen, who was asked how the Sony Santa Monica studio is looking to serve up challenge room content in the upcoming sequel and whether the setup will be changed at all...
"It would make a lot of sense to be able to download them," said Asmussen. "That's something we might see in the future. So, maybe you'll see the game ship with a certain amount of challenges on it, then later on, we might put a download pack out with new challenges. It's a good way to keep the series going."
"Now that you have creatures you can ride," Asmussen continued, "maybe we'll put in a challenge where in a certain amount of time you have to get on a Cyclops and kill a certain number of enemies in a certain amount of time. Or, maybe you have to use the Cyclops to get through a certain type of hazard or area or something like that."
However, Asmussen admitted that, "we haven't even started on the challenges yet," although he was optimistic about what the studio could come up with in the remaining dev time: "There are some ideas in people's heads and other ideas on paper. It'll be interesting to see what we come up with in the next two months."
Is this kind of DLC imaginative enough for arguably the most highly anticipated PS3 game on Sony's books? Personally, we'd like to see additional campaign content dooled out in a kind of episodic form like GTA IV, although there's always the chance that Sony Santa Monica is planning this as well as the challenge rooms but just hasn't announced it yet. Let us know your thoughts in the comments, Sony fans...

There is no faulting the God of War series - even the PSP's Chains of Olympus is awesome. The latest God of War 3 trailer looks stunning - here's hoping the story and gameplay are still spot-on ;-)

Just ave your money and get a ps3. It does not matter if the the ps2 is selling more it is a last gen console. You can quote me me right here GOW 3 will never be on the ps2. Just tell me this why would you put a game that needs to be on the current gen console on a previous gen console. So as I said before save your money and get a ps3 trust me you have at lesat a year if not more before it comes out.

just to burst any sony fans but sony confirmed at e3 2008 there will be a further 120 games comming out on ps2 (thats right ps2) in the next 12 months, if i still had a ps3 id be a little bit worried right now as no previous last gen console has had so much support after its younger brother hits the streets and as the ps3 is nearly 2 years old and its older brother is nearly 8 years old, how much longer till the ps2 dies.
