Described as a 'God Action' title, Capcom release more information on their forthcoming PlayStation2 release...

Confirmed last Friday, Capcom has today released further information on Clover Studio's action title, God Hand. The game follows the story of a traveller called Jean, who's given a 'God Hand' following an assault by a group of bandits that leaves him without a right hand. The hand allows Jean to access the 'power of God', which comes in handy now that he's become the main focus of an enemy looking for the hand.

Capcom confirms that Jean's only weapon will be the God Hand, and not the standard fare of guns and swords, which enables him to wield super-human powers during combat and confrontations. From embedded screenshots it appears that Jean will be able to kick and punch his way through the onslaught of enemies, and even meditate whilst being attacked.

Despite the action and combat experiences, God Hand is also said (at least by Capcom) to feature a number of comic moments. Obviously translated from the Japanese version, Capcom's document does provide more than the occasional eyebrow lifting phrase, which relate to the game's 'humour' (taglines about falling iron bathtubs and giant strawberries are just two examples), though how it'll work in the overall context of the game is yet to be seen.

God Hand has been confirmed for a 2006 release; we'll have more shortly...

God Hand is easily one of the best fighters on this generation; the fun, the combat, the insane difficulty and the perverse overtones. Its such an old school Japanese fighter - LOVE IT, GIVE ME MORE
