What Is Atari Thinking? Phil Harrison No Longer President News

Former President of SCE Worldwide Studios is no longer Atari's President...

Embattled publisher Atari signalled a statement of intent last year with the appointment of Phil Harrison, formerly President of SCE Worldwide Studios.

However it appears that the recent announcement that Atari Europe will fall under the Namco-Bandai family has ruffled a few feathers, with confirmation that Harrison will no longer serve as President of the publisher. Instead Harrison's new role is the slightly less significant position of non-executive director of the group. Atari adds that he will continue to assist, support and guide the company's strategy.

A really bizarre decision if you ask us; you don't enlist somebody of Harrison's stature and then immediately ask him to move upstairs. Has the Namco-Bandai deal signalled an end to Atari's bold vision that would embrace new online distribution technology to help lift the publisher beyond its decade of woes?

I was so excited when I heard about this game that I picked up the Real Ghostbusters volume 1 on dvd from amazon to hold me over until the game's release. Sounds like it will be pretty great! Now I'm definitely going to get it.

But seriously, if TVG wants to take itself seriously, TVG needs to hire better writers. Discs don't "wur" in the disc drive, they "whir," as in "whirring." And ending sentences with prepositions? Seriously?

I'm sure it was gonna just be a mediocre game rescued by the fact it's Ghostbusters, but the Sony exclusivity just doesn't make any sense to me... What didn't they just pick it up entirely when Activision sold it is beyond me.
