Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Announced [UPDATE] News

Ghost Recon 4, briefly titled Ghost Recon: Predator, has been circling around for a considerable amount of time despite Ubisoft never actually officially announcing the title.  Well now the wait is over and with it comes an all-new title and a release date of Holiday 2010.

Currently in development at the studio behind GRAW and its sequel, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier boasts cutting-edge technology, prototype high-tech weaponry, and state-of-the-art single-player and multiplayer modes, in an experience Ubisoft claims "will go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience."

Borrowing a trick or two from Bungie, gamers will be able to sample the action this summer with a beta invite contained within Splinter Cell: Conviction.  Yes, we know that's an Xbox 360 exclusive so we've asked Ubisoft for a comment as to whether this is indicative of Future Solder aligning to one format or whether there will be an alternative way for PS3 owners to join the beta.

A Ubisoft representative provided us with the following response:

"We aren't communicating the formats just yet, you will have to wait for further announcements in the coming months."

So it seems PS3 owners will just have to hold out a little longer before knowing if there's any invite to the beta party.

If Ubisoft reps aren't willing to communicate this, then at least Ubisoft's Kimi Matsuzaki is: "PS3 version will be the same as 360 version," she Twittered before adding, "PS3 version will come out same time as 360" (Thanks, VG247).
