Ubisoft announce further details of the forthcoming Ghost Recon 2 expansion pack, Summit Strike...

Ubisoft has today released details of the August 2005 release of the Ghost Recon 2 expansion pack, which has now been subtitled â??Summit Strikeâ??. The game, which will retail at £19.99 and is standalone from the original title, will include eleven new single-player missions as well as a whole host of multi-player options that (according to Ubi at least) will keep fans of the franchise happy until the Christmas 2005 release of Ghost Recon 3.

As we previously reported Summit Strike follows the events after the assassination of the Kazakh President by a Pakistani warlord as the Ghosts are sent in to stop further attacks from occurring. Each of the missions are open-ended leaving players to decide on which order to complete the mission objectives as they guide the Ghosts through some of the harshest terrains in Kazakhstan. As well as providing further single-player campaigns, Summit Strike will also include 15 new weapons including the modular â??SCARâ?? rifle and a whole host of multi-player maps (24 in total) including some of the fan favourites from GR2.

The game will also include new character skins including all of the enemy skins from the single-player campaign, snow camouflage, and â??International Specialistsâ?? together with two new modes: Heli Hunt, in which the Ghosts have to destroy the helicopters that are hunting them down, and Armour Strike, where players race against each other and destroy the various armoured vehicles in the map.

At the moment Ubisoft has just given the game a broad August release date, but weâ??ll have more on Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike shortly...
