F1 2011 also manages to qualify on the first row of the grid...
Two new releases have jumped to the top of the UK chart this week with Codemasters' F1 2011 parking at No.2 and Epic's conclusion to the Gears of War trilogy invading the No.1 spot.
We reviewed both games last week – F1 2011 held the 9/10 we gave last year's instalment while Gears 3 managed a rock-solid 8/10.
Incredibly, Chart-Track figures show that Gears 3 recorded almost as many launch week sales as both of its predecessors combined, making it the 7th most commercially successful Xbox 360 launch in UK history.
That said, Gears 3 was released worldwide on a Tuesday and the series' two previous titles were launched on a Friday, which effectively skews the figures a little by gifting this latest instalment three days worth of additional sales time.
Last week's high-flyers remained strong across the top 10 with the former No.1, Dead Island dropping two places to No.3 and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine dropping five places to No.7 alongside another five place drop to No.8 for Resistance 3.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution held fast at No.5 while Driver San Francisco missed a gear and dropped behind it to No.6 from its No.4 spot last week. Top 10 stalwarts, Zumba Fitness and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean remained strong at No.4 and No.9 respectively, while Rugby World Cup 2011 filled the final spot.
