Gears 1 antagonist, General RAAM returns to the fray...
Remember that Locust you killed at the end of the first Gears of War? The one who looked a bit like he was wearing a Nazi trench coat, had an unexplained affinity with the Kryll, and was just an all-round bad egg? Well, it turns out you'll be playing as him in the first Gears of War 3 DLC to feature single-player content.
Suitably titled 'RAAM's Shadow', the DLC will launch over Xbox Live on December 13th for 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.20). The story takes place before the events of Gears 1 in the aftermath of planet Sera's Emergence Day, and will place gamers in the shoes of RAAM as he storms the human stronghold of Lima City alongside a fearsome Kryll storm (that's right, those annoying harpies are back).
Touted as providing around three hours of playthrough time, the DLC will also offer gameplay from the perspective of Zeta Squad, a new band of COGs with some familiar and all-new faces. There's Michael Barrick (who appeared in the comics), Lt. Minh Young Kim (Gears 1), Tai Kaliso (Gears 2), and an all-new female COG, Alicia Valera.
“RAAM’s imposing size and strength, along with his Kryll shield, make him one of the most powerful and daunting foes in the ‘Gears’ universe,” said Epic's Cliff Bleszinski. “We think fans are going to have a blast unleashing hell upon the poor humans for the first time in a campaign setting.”
In addition to the single-player content, 'RAAM's Shadow' will also include six new multiplayer character skins, a 'Chocolate Weapon Set', and new Achievements to the score of 250 Gamerscore Points.
