EDGE suggests Microsoft will hold on until Halo: Reach and Natal are out of the way...
Gears of War smashed its way into the gaming conscious back in November 2006 and was followed two years later with the Dom focussed sequel. Judging by that timeframe, the still as-of-yet unannounced third chapter, should be gearing up for a release towards the end of 2010 - this year.
However EDGE doesn't think so. A recent article based on comments from a 'trusted US publishing source' maintains Marcus, Dom and co's rumoured final frolic with the Locust won't be appearing until the unusual and slightly unfashionable frame of April 2011.
EDGE maintains that the decision behind the traditionally late release is based around Microisoft's reluctance to cloud the release of Halo: Reach and Natal, both of which are shaping up for launch towards the end of the year.
Given that Gears of War 2 was revealed at GDC in 2008 the information certainly seems likely, while EDGE maintains that a full announcement will take place at this year's E3.
