Microsoft's Xbox Live dashboard appears to jump the gun on Cliff Bleszinski's much rumoured Gears of War 3 announcement...
Of all the people to fudge Cliff Bleszinski's big night with Jimmy Fallon, we would've put Microsoft right at the back of the list but, as is the crazy world of videogame reporting, the opposite of that would appear to be precisely the case.
All Games Beta has the images (shown right) from Microsoft's Xbox Live dashboard, which clearly show the Gears of War 3 announcement and previously rumoured April 2011 release window. Our best guess is that someone at Microsoft hadn't got the memo that Cliff Bleszinski was bumped to Monday's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and had posted the banner ad on Xbox Live in blissful ignorance.
If you think that it might be a fake, then think again. Yes, it would be easy to photoshop an image like this, but the dashboard images have been confirmed by separate photos taken from the likes of Eurogamer Germany, Joystiq, and Kotaku. However, the banner ad has now been pulled by Microsoft.
Gears of War 3 lives! This news also appears to confirm the spilt Gears 3 details that popped up this morning.
