Epic and Microsoft launch the 'Combustible' map pack for Gears of War 2; three new maps available on Live now...

Gears of War 2 has only been out for five weeks, but that hasn't meant that Epic Games has been resting on its laurels since then.  Today, the first piece of downloadable content has been released on Xbox Live following a sneak peak during last night's Spike VGAs in the US.  Well, the second piece if you include the 'Flashback' map pack bundled with the the Gears 2 box.

Featuring three new maps, the 'Combustible' map pack is available for 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80), and takes gamers into a fresh series of battles against the Locust in Horde mode, or each other:

Flood is a very tight map that's made extra snug when the environmental hazard of Imulsion begins creeping up around the edges. As the playing field closes in, the firefight will intensify as combat is forced to the center of the map. Teams skilled at flanking their opponents will have a powerful edge.

Gold Rush takes place in an old Imulsion refinery that now serves as a hotly contested battleground. Players must survive heavy crossfire as they infiltrate the factory and navigate multiple tiers. Breakable glass allows for a clean shot at those who make a dash for the Longshot rifle while bolder players make their run for the heavy weapon. In the right hands, the Mortar can be devastating on this map, so keep those smoke grenades armed as the concussive effect comes in very handy.

Fuel Station is situated in a desolate area marked by an abandoned fossil fuel station. The team that secures and controls the station is likely to be the side that wins the match. An especially strategic location on this map is the rooftop, as there are only two points of entry – the main elevator and a staircase on the back side of the building. Heavy weaponry is situated right in front, which presents a high risk to reward ratio in this level. Lugging the Mulcher around, deploying it and revving it up can keep an entire team at bay, and unleashing hell from the rooftops is always an excellent tactic.

I got a hang of Gears 2 when my friend lent me his xBox 360 and the Graphics seem to be better than Gears 1 .I tried using the xBox controller on my laptop to play Gears 1 and later I used the same to play Gears 2 on xBox.But didn't quite seem to enjoy the gameplay with xbox controller. I wonder if we could attach a mouse and keyboard to xBox so that I can play better as Mouse and Keyboard are far more better while playing shooter games.Even though the game Gears 2 looks great I am still convinced that I should go ahead to buy xBox just for the sake of playing this game.I will definately buy a Licensed version of Gears 2 if ported on PC or if the xBox 360 game Dvd can be run on Pcs or Laptops using some simulator or attaching an xBox DVD Drive.A PC version of this game will do wonders and justice to this game but the ending Boss fight is not so good.I enjoyed the Last Boss viz. General Raam . They should make final Boss Fight more challenging just like we had as General Raam. Anyways, I just hope Epic wakes up in time and release Gears 2 for Pc with a standard Specfication to run on PC viz. RAM , Graphices and CPU Requirements quoted on the released PC version of Gears 2 so that people cannot complain that Gears 2 is also glitchy.Gears 1 ran fine on my Laptop and I thank EPIC for providing such a wonderful game.

sorry but how long did it take for the first gears game to be ported to the pc, and yet pc players have been moaning about cliff even before the games release on the 360.

just get used to it gears 2 isnt comming out on pc, your more likly to see mario galaxy on the 360 than seeing gears 2 on the pc.

lol if you playing on a pirated/chipped/modded 360 its no wonder you cant play on live not only that but anyone with a modded xbox playing pirated game cant play multiplayer matches on live as microsoft instantly bans any account found playing on modded hardware which im in full support to them as the scum that pirate games/software cost the industry millions every year and you wonder why games cost so much, it all down to cheap scates not paying like all the other decent honest people out there (no piracy would mean cheaper games plus if the pirates haddnt made illeagl versions of the first gears you would have gears 2 on pc) so stop blaming Cliff Bleszinski its you fu.ck.ing pirates that need to rot in hell
