Gears of War 2 Confirmed - Nearly News

Microsoft Game Studios confirms the appointment of former EA Chicago head, taking control of Gears of War...

After reports earlier in the year that former EA Chicago head Kudo Tsunoda would be taking a position as Microsoft's new man in charge of Gears of War 2, it finally seems that we have official confirmation of the sequel - weeks ahead of the rumoured GDC unveiling.

Speaking at last week's 2008 D.I.C.E summit, Microsoft Game Studios Corporate Vice President Shane Kim confirmed the appointment to IGN.

"I'm really excited about it," Kim said. "Kudo just joined us on Monday."

Although it seems we'll have to wait a little longer before Gears of War 2 is officially confirmed, Kim stated:

"I think there's an awful lot we can do just with version one of Gears of War," before adding, "There's additional content that we continue to do. Gears of War continues to be one of the most-played titles on Xbox Live. There's more that one can do to continue to deliver great experiences. And partnering with Epic on where we go from here. How can we make it even bigger and even better in the future."
