Gearbox Definitely Not Working On Halo News

The longstanding rumour that Gearbox Software are working on a Halo title has finally been laid to rest.

A message on 343 Industries' Twitter has stated:

"For the record, Gearbox is NOT working on a Halo title for Microsoft."

The rumours first began to circulate when Bungie split from Microsoft, and were backed up by the fact that Gearbox had previous experience with the brand having brought Halo 2 to the PC.

Gearbox has also teased that it's working on something big, with the studio's President and CEO Randy Pitchford exclaiming:

"It's, like, look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger kind of big...When you find out what this is, you'll likely agree that I can't oversell this one."

That remark was made back in 2008, although a later post claimed that we wouldn't be seeing anything until 2010 at the earliest.

The situation got even muddier earlier in the week when Eurogamer put the question to Randy Pitchford, who promptly refused to talk anymore when pressed further on the subject.
