San Andreas Obliterates UK Sales Record News

Rockstar’s latest addition to the GTA franchise smashes the previous first weekend sales record – set by Vice City…

After just a few days since it made its UK debut, Rockstarâ??s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has completely blown the UKâ??s weekend sales record for a videogame out of the water, selling an estimated 677â??000 copies - the previous record had been set by the 2002 release of GTA: Vice City, which sold just over 250â??000 copies in the same period.

The UKâ??s Chart-Track body revealed the figures after it emerged that over three million copies of the game may have been sold around the world in the gameâ??s opening few days of release.

Despite claims that retailers only had a limited number of copies of the title, San Andreas has still managed to push the limit on the number of sales possible, and is well on track to become the UKâ??s fastest ever selling million copy game.
