GTA: San Andreas??? News

Rumours are rife that a GTA game will be heading to the Playstation2 later in the year. A representative of Rockstar North has registered the domain name www.gtasanandreas.com and www.grandtheftautosanandreas.com; GTA fans will instantly recognise San Andreas as one of the areas in the original Grand Theft Auto, alongside Liberty City and Vice City.

We’ve already seen Liberty City recreated in GTA3 and Vice City in the recently released GTA: Vice City, so this news has prompted many to speculate that another title is on its way to the PS2 later in the year.

When we spoke to Take-2 last year, they were adamant that Vice City would be the last in the series for awhile, claiming that Rockstar North didn’t want to get into the annual release syndrome and that they wanted to move on. However the huge success of Vice City might have persuaded the team to develop one last title for this generation of machines, after that expect GTA4 to be a revolutionary experience on the next generation of games consoles.

Of course we’re going to wait for official confirmation, but don’t be too surprised to find GTA: San Andreas being announced in the not too distant future.
