Rockstar reveals how we can all enjoy our own music in Liberty City Stories...
This Friday sees the release of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on PSP, and today Rockstar has explained the process that players will have to follow if they wish to take advantage of the Custom Soundtracks functionality within the game. Utilising the RCT software (thatâ??s Rockstar Custom Tracks version 1.0 to you and me), which can be downloaded from the official website, players can import and compress the songs on their PC before exporting them to a Liberty City Stories save game.
The RCT software will only compress and convert files via a commercial audio CD so music libraries in iTunes/Windows Media Player look like they wonâ??t be available to use. Once the music has been saved onto the Memory Stick, players then have to start the game, pause it, and enable Custom Soundtracks from the menu.
The method resembles the way that Codemastersâ?? TOCA2 on PSP had custom soundtracks earlier in the year, which does bring up a rather interesting question: If the PSP is supposed to represent multimedia convergence, why do users have to face the prospect of having to encode the same song any number of times in order to play the same track as an mp3 file and within a game itself? Seems that rather than knock down brick walls the process is in fact building them.
Weâ??ll have more on GTA: Liberty City Stories very shortlyâ?¦
