Publisher execs suggest there are more GTA 4 episodes to come before we see GTA 5...

Responding to questions surrounding the next GTA and the decision to concentrate on episodic downloadable content, Take-Two has suggested that there are further stories to tell in the GTA4 timeline and maintained that creating a profit without a multi-platform GTA is a key goal for the publisher.

"I think the key takeaway is that we fully anticipate that there we'll be able to achieve our goals of operating the company profitably in a year when we don't have a new multi-platform release of GTA.  That's an important goal."

Take Two's Strauss Zelnick elaborated on the decision to focus on downloadable content:

"... first of all we expressed an interest across the board in experimenting with downloadable content, the episodes were obviously groundbreaking in that way, the first episode got tremendous reviews and a great response.  We think The Ballad of Gay Tony is just wonderful, and we think it's going to delight consumers and that's the business that we're in.

Historically the franchise has been developed with initial multi-platform releases and then with incremental releases in an array of ways and we're following that here.  I think one of the benefits of the market that we find it now is that there are even greater opportunities to experiment with that."

Moving onto the suggestion that because Rockstar North is working on the PS3 exclusive, Agent, would mean there's no room for the next GTA, Ben Feder added:

"It would be a mistake to think that there's only room at Rockstar to do one thing at a time.  There are multiple studios and within the studios there are multiple teams and there's an ability to deliver high quality games, multiple high quality games, over a period of time, not just one game."

"At the risk of going on for too long, there are stories yet that still need to be told related to Grand Theft Auto 4.  We're dealing with creative passion and talent, and we're satisfying and we hope always exceeding consumer expectations.  It's one of the great things that Rockstar does and is motivated to do," claimed Zelnick.

I don't CARE about downloadable content.  Put it on disc or don't put it out at all.

lol am i only joined by a few people that actually read about the exclusive DLC ms paid for before the game came out, im sure pc and ps3 owners to ignorent to actually read about microsofts exclusive rights for DLC on the 360 and the amount of money they shelled out for it and yet ps3 and pc owners still dont get it,

here ill make it simple ms payed for exclusive DLC before the games release exclusivly on xbox 360 only if sony had come up with an offer better than ms im sure it would have been 360 and pc owners complaining about DLC but the fact is it was announced months before the games release and you only have your sefs to blame for buying it and expecting DLC that isnt comming out on the ps3/pc.
