Rockstar Begins GTA IV Reveal News
The first trailer to one of the most anticipated titles of 2007 hits the web...
By Jon WilcoxPosted: 29/03/2007
Having been kept under a veil of secrecy since it was first announced for Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 in May 2006, Rockstar Games has today begun to peel away some of the earliest details of Grand Theft Auto IV with the release of a teaser trailer.
It's Liberty City
A pastiche of "The Grid", a section of the 1982 art-house movie Koyaanisqatsi: Life out of Balance (including music that sounds eerily similar to Philip Glass' score for the movie), the trailer cuts between various locations within Liberty City, showing some of its inspiration's greatest landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and the Flat Iron Building.
The trailer includes the accented voice of a Russian or East European man describing some of his past misdemeanours including killing and smuggling people. He ends the trailer with the somewhat hopeful line "Perhaps here, things will be different..."
It hasn't given too much away but one thing's for sure, it seems every pixel has been poured over to ensure no specific details are released; nevertheless, we poured over every frame in the hope to catch a plane in the sky or some other little nugget of information - if you spot anything we've missed be sure to let us know...
October can't come quick enough.
Trailer Breakdown
(00:16) - The decrepit Liberty City sign above the Ferry Terminal is clearly visible; we're back where it all started, though that's not to say a new trailer might offer another location...
(00:20) - The Stature of Liberty? Liberty City has never come this close to New York before.
(00:28) - Cluck'in Bell is back, suggesting the RPG like stats from San Andreas will make a comeback.
(00:28) - An advert for the regional newspaper, The Liberty Tree, if any further proof was needed.
(00:30) - Frame advance through the crowd scene seems to suggest a wide variety of character models, each one different to the other - could "clumping" be consigned to the last generation?
(00:30) - LCPD cop car (just in case).
(00:32) - Taxi Driver missions?
(00:40) - Is that a bird or a plane in the sky above the Platypus?
(01:00) - Rating TBC, who they trying to kid???
No boats, no planes, no familiar faces; nothing, but still Rockstar have managed to turn on the stlye once again. They've got a wave of expectation to meet and exceed - improving upon the release of San Andreas - but something tells us they might just be able to do it - roll on the next trailer.

lol am i only joined by a few people that actually read about the exclusive DLC ms paid for before the game came out, im sure pc and ps3 owners to ignorent to actually read about microsofts exclusive rights for DLC on the 360 and the amount of money they shelled out for it and yet ps3 and pc owners still dont get it,
here ill make it simple ms payed for exclusive DLC before the games release exclusivly on xbox 360 only if sony had come up with an offer better than ms im sure it would have been 360 and pc owners complaining about DLC but the fact is it was announced months before the games release and you only have your sefs to blame for buying it and expecting DLC that isnt comming out on the ps3/pc.

Okay, okay, we feel your pain. PS3 gamers don't get the DLC either, you know? At least PC users get the unquestionably awesome video editing suite. I could muck around on that for hours by itself.

Rockstar can rest assured that next time I WONT BUY THE GAME! I'll just download it, and they they can shove the exclusivity upon their *********.
