Take-Two's Q1 financials hint at "additional episodic content" for GTA IV during the company's fiscal 2009...
Ben Feder, Take-Two Interactive's CEO, has stated that "additional episodic content" is scheduled for GTA IV during the company's fiscal 2009 (between November 1st 2008 and October 31st 2009). He made the statement in the publisher's Q1 2008 financial statement.
Two portions of exclusive episodic content for GTA IV have been previously confirmed for the Xbox 360, which was a point that was re-iterated by Feder in the financial statement:
"In addition to Grand Theft Auto IV, for the balance of fiscal 2008 our releases will include Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, Top Spin 3, Don King Presents: Prizefighter, Carnival Games for DS, Carnival Games: Mini-Golf for Wii, NBA 2K9, NHL 2K9, episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360, as well as other titles."
However, Feder went on to point out that "We also have significant visibility into fiscal 2009, which includes additional episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV."
It is currently unclear whether both portions of exclusive Xbox 360 episodic content will be released simultaneously, or on different dates.
This leaves three possibilities on the table: 1) The second piece of exclusive Xbox 360 DLC is scheduled for Take-Two's 2009 financial year. 2) The episodic content could be a timed exclusive and the additional content in 2009 refers to a later PlayStation 3 release. 3) Feder is referring to some all-new episodic content that is unrelated to the previously confirmed Xbox 360 exclusives.
That's another very tangled web that TVG will attempt to untangle and bring you further news on as it becomes available.
