Specific details on SCEi intriguing new survival/horror title, which promises to push the genre forwards...

Siren certainly surprised us when we laid eyes upon it at the recent Playstation Experience. Initially it was believed the game would make its first appearance, then all links to the title were removed from the events promotion and then finally it goes and makes an appearance.

Thankfully this has allowed us to learn some specific titles on the secretive SCE developed title.

Billed as the story of a living nightmare, the game takes place over three days in the Japanese village of Hanyuda where the sea has turned blood red and its inhabitants are turning into deranged, mutated creatures. The game offers ten selectable characters and it’s believed that only by playing through the game with all characters will you gain the true story behind the game.

The game features an intriguing game mechanic whereby you can look through the eyes of characters in your vicinity. This ability allows you to know what your attackers are doing before you do; simply by hitting the L1 shoulder button and using the left analogue stick to search for a signal, you can allocate this once found to one of the four primary face buttons. Hitting the corresponding button then takes you to a first-person perspective of the targeted character, ideal for gaining an understanding of what lies ahead of you.

We’re looking forward to checking out Siren in more detail.
