SCEE confirm a European release for the creepy survival/horror from SCEJ...

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today confirmed a March 2004 release for ‘Forbidden Siren’, alongside revealing new information on the eagerly awaited survival/horror title.

Set in the Japanese village of Hanyuda, which now finds itself awash with evil and encircled by a sea of blood, players have to take on the role of ten different survivors as they attempt to escape from the evil.

Taking place over a three-day period, it’s claimed that control switches at key points between the survivors as the player attempts to discover more about the past of each character and the mystery that begins to unravel.

The game feature 78 episodes in total, however these aren’t played out in chronological order. Thankfully the player has a time-table to help understand how each episode falls into place, however the lack of order should certainly add to the suspense and twisting nature of the plot.

The biggest feature of ‘Forbidden Siren’ however is the ability to ‘sight-jack’ or steal the viewpoints of other characters and enemies in their vicinity. This ability allows you to second-guess the movements of your enemies, but comes at the cost of rendering the user momentarily immobile and defenceless.

‘Forbidden Siren’ has recently been released in Japan to strong sales and critical acclaim, however SCEJ had to pull its TV commercial due to its strong and disturbing imagery.

We’ll have lots more on ‘Forbidden Siren’ soon.
