Sports Interactive will introduce a 3D match engine to this year's Football Manager on PC and Mac...
SEGA and Sports Interactive have announced that there will be a 3D match engine in Football Manager 2009. The title is due out on PC/Mac and PSP this November 14th in what will be the biggest expansion in the series' history.
As if that wasn't enough, the handheld version of FM on PSP will inherit a 2D match engine similar to the one enjoyed by the PC game over the last few years. These were the highlights from Sports Interactive's grand reveal of this year's game in London last night.
But wait! There's more... Players will be able to take part in press conferences and form relationships with journalists in the PC version and PSP gamers can run multiple active leagues in a game for the first time. These are but a couple of over 50 enhancements promised for FM 2009 (more info will be released on Sports Interactive's website as the game nears release).
The only bad news is that there won't be an Xbox 360 version this year. Sports Interactive's Studio Director, Miles Jacobson, honestly stated that the reason for this was that "our control system is crap" on the Xbox 360.
Look out for a TVG Q&A with Miles Jacobson in the coming days about the upcoming revolution in Football Manager.

Players of this game: Are you able to win as say, Stoke or some other club apart from the big 4? I remember winning 5 premierships and 3 European Cups as Sheffield Wednesday on the old Championship Manager 3. Playing FM07, that seems to be impossible because you can't sign any players as a minnow club. Perhaps the series has become too realistic - what happened to playing a GAME?
