Football Manager 2009 Goes Gold News
Sports Interactive announces the system requirements for FM 2009 as this year's game prepares for kickoff...
By Gwynne DixonPosted: 28/10/2008
SEGA and Sports Interactive have announced that Football Manager 2009 has now gone gold, while the developer/publisher team has also revealed system requirements and demo details for this year's version of gaming's premier football management sim.
So, without further ado, here are the requirements that will determine whether you can run the all-new 3D match engine, or if you'll miss out on promotion and be left with the usual 2D engine:
PC:
- OS: Windows XP or Vista
- Processor: XP: 1.4GHz or Faster / Vista: 2.0GHz or Faster
- Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core, AMD Athlon
- Memory: XP: 512MB RAM / Vista: 1.0GB RAM
- Hard Drive Space: 2GB
- DVD-Drive: 4x Speed
- Video Card: 128MB *Supported Chipsets (see below)
- Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible
- Directx: Version 9.0c (included)
- LAN: TCP/IP compliant
- Input: Keyboard, Mouse
*Supported Chipsets - Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 or greater; Intel 82915G/82910GL or greater.
Earlier cards may only display 2D Match Viewer Mode and are not supported. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.
MAC:
- Intel Processor, OS X 10.5.5, NVIDIA GeForce 7300 / ATI X1600 Radeon, 1GB System RAM.
Details for this year's demos were also announced, with Sports Interactive issuing the usual 'strawberry' and 'vanilla' options.
The 'strawberry' demo includes player pictures and team badges, as well as the ability to play in multiple leagues and countries from outside the UK. All the usual language translations are also on offer in this version, which will be available for download from November 2nd on Steam and via the SI website.
As the name suggests, 'vanilla' is a plain demo without any trimmings for a speedier download. Also available on November 2nd, this version will be distributed from the News of the World website and contains only English and Scottish leagues with no player pictures or club badges.
Both versions allow users to play through half a season, while the save games from this can then be used in the final game when it's released on November 14th (look out for the PSP title on the same date).

Players of this game: Are you able to win as say, Stoke or some other club apart from the big 4? I remember winning 5 premierships and 3 European Cups as Sheffield Wednesday on the old Championship Manager 3. Playing FM07, that seems to be impossible because you can't sign any players as a minnow club. Perhaps the series has become too realistic - what happened to playing a GAME?
