Seriously, SEGA and Sports Interactive confirm the next instalment is going to arrive sooner then later...

Usually known for its delays Sports Interactive today provided a nice surprise with the announcement that Football Manager 2006 has been brought forward to October 21st.

In addition fans can get a taste of what to expect with the release of the gold demo today, simply by visiting www.sigames.com and downloading the demo that provides half a season to see what improvements SI have in store.

Two versions of the demo have been made available; the â??Vanillaâ? demo is a lightweight file for those that havenâ??t entered the BroadBand era yet, including English and Scottish leagues only, whilst the â??Strawberryâ? demo contains 200MB worth of FM delights, featuring 8 languages and 16 different leagues to try out.

"We can't wait to see the reaction of the Football Manager community to Football Manager 2006, having hit our optimum release date, rather than the previous announced estimated date" commented Miles Jacobson, Managing Director of Sports Interactive. "The team at SI have worked amazingly hard this year to improve on Football Manager 2005 and we are all delighted with the outcome. We all look forward to losing many hours playing the game properly, rather than testing it!"
