Yoshinori Kitase suggests Final Fantasy XIII will use 100% of PS3; so where does that leave the 360 port...
Responding to a fairly innocuous question from Dengeki PlayStation, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase has suggested that the title is maxing out the potential of Sony's home console.
When asked whether Final Fantasy XIII would tax the PlayStation3, Kitase-san responded:
"Doesn't the demo use about 50 percent of its power? Of course, I think the retail version will make use of nearly 100 percent."
Presumably Kitase-san and his team haven't taken the game engine back to the drawing board in the mean time, so his response seems slightly odd to interpret.
Sony has suggested that the PlayStation3 is a more capable machine than the Xbox 360 when handled by developers working specifically to its strengths. So does this admission suggest that either the Xbox 360 version will have significant sacrifices; or both the PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 are pretty close in the willy-waving stakes; or merely poorly translated or a (successful) attempt to generate headlines across the internet.
We suspect the latter.

A FFVI remake would be more exciting to see and would make more sense than a FFVIII remake since FFVIII already has 3D graphics. I would only roll my eyes at a FFVII remake. Seriously, the world's gone way beyond sloppy seconds with those characters and that universe as it is.
