Square-Enix confirms a surprise is on the cards to mark the enduring RPG series...

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise that has spawned titles and shifted over 60 million copies since making its debut in Japan on December 18th 1987, Square-Enix have confirmed to Dengeki that a surprise announcement regarding the franchise will be made this year.

No further hints as to what the revelation will be or when it will be made were given during the article, leaving it up for Final Fantasy fanboys to ignite the rampant speculation - FFXIII released in Europe before 2010, FFXIV a DS exclusive, Square-Enix selling the franchise to Microsoft???
