'This game was an absolute piece of crap. I wouldn't care if it looked like it was on the PS1 if it was actually a good story, had good music, wasn't so freaking BORING and LINEAR and wasn't a futuristic kaleidescope of overdesigned vomit.'
Pretty much sums it up. I am sure, and I do not speak for myself, the reasons why we loved stuff like FF7 and 12, is because of that MASSIVE world; the options to go anywhere, more or less at anytime, the ability to go back to different places AND here characters tell us something different the next time around. I miss what FF7 and 12 gave us (and 8 more or less): the ability to immerse ourselves into a world where will intrinsically feel a part of it. FF14 went ahead and gutted, COMPLETELY GUTTED, what the world of final fantasy is about...want to go ahead Square and make linear games on a medium now that allows superior graphics then fine, but I think I speak for a lot of people when I say Give me the graphics of a ps1 game on a cd-r with a story that goes on for 3 discs and takes me a year to complete, because IM THERE...hook, line and sinker...

As a fan of final fantasy since i can remember if the old format of world exploration some variation of turn based battle system with ability to control other party characters, airship, moogles, chocobos, mini-games, storyline, summons/espers, older setting, side-quests, and so on are not available in game, but only as DLC as much as it hurts to say I will no longer buy a ff title. I was willing to give 13 a chance i painfully and forcefully pushed through about 30 hours of gameplay and finally gave up on it. If people want these modernistic, linear, choice changing, action rpgs make them but PLEASE don't label it FINAL FANTASY! I really hope they find the time and ability to create graphically a new generation of old style ff. All the things that made ff, final fantasy is no longer there in 13. I only they go back their roots and what ff was, unique and massive.

Well they should put it like final fantasy 12 when you roam around that would be something their and put it lesser or even lessier with bigger hp gugde and put it like dissidia just combo's that would be good enough their.

In the beginning I really enjoyed the game, however the longer I played it the more boring it became.
Now I am setting myself to playing, and I even started to play FF7 again just to get a FF feeling.
I would say to square, nice try, but no sigar. Stay with the old format for FF.
The battle system however was nice it is fast, but not perfect yet.
It takes to much time to wait for your gauge to fill up, in other FF you could keep playing because you also control the other characters.
And the scenery was to much Mech and way to little fantasy. The only chapter where I would personally stay is Chapter 11.

I didn't enjoy this game personelly. It had to much tunnel vision for me. The gaphics and story were good the battle system was ok. But the game lacked "choice". It was like watching a movie while fiddling with a remote. I won't pre-order another game from Square again. I felt pretty let down and disappointed.

I definitely think that the franchise should go back to a more original format. I loved FFVIII, FFVII, and FFX because they had awesome gamestyles, storylines, music etc. and kept to the awesome ff tradition. Honestly, if it's not broken then why fix it?

This game is fantastic. I've played Final Fantasy X, XII, and X-II
This is my favorite. The battle system isn't cut and dry like this review makes it seem. Most of the time, the auto-battle button just picks the enemy's obvious weakness, when a lot of the enemies on the game have to be beaten with a weakness that Libra doesn't spoon-feed you. The Eidolon battles are also very intense as well, and the visuals this game uses really ties it in with everything.
This review does not give this game its proper credit. End o' story.

Finally an FF game that doesn't revolve around summoners. Every game after 7 was about following or obtaining summoners and summons.

nearly in 2011 when we have only just got in 2010 its only the 5th month you know maybe around november time and you could say nearly 2011, as for the remake youll miles off as SE are working on ff13vs and ff14 not only that but they also helped with just cause 2 aswell i doubt they have had any time to do a remake of ff7 at all if they are then id guess its only about 30% complete (remember its a remake starting from the ground up not an update)
