Codemasters Picks Up Field Ops??? [UPDATE] News

An interesting mix of RTS and FPS genres, Freeze Interactive's Field Ops has been in development at Digital Reality for quite some time, without any word on who will be responsible for bringing the title to the UK. Picked up for release in Germany by TGC - The Games Company at the end of 2006, there's been little word on who'll publish the game on this side of the Channel...until today.

According to a number of UK online retailers, including Amazon and HMV, Field Ops has been added to the portfolio of Codemasters - though official confirmation from either Freeze Interactive or Codies themselves is yet to be made, several sources have indicated that the listings are accurate.

TGC had intended to release Field Ops during the first quarter of the year, though the game has subsequently missed its window. Reports have emerged that the game will now be reaching Germany sometime in August or September; there's no news on when we can expect the strategy title over here in the UK.

[UPDATE] Codemasters has since confirmed that they have not signed a deal to bring Field Ops to the UK. In a statement to TVG, Codemasters representatives clarified: "Codemasters has not signed Field Ops. It does not appear on our schedule of future releases."
