TVG takes a round up of the details known so far on KOEI's forthcoming PS3 racer...

Making its debut at the recent Tokyo Game show, KOEI today sent along further details on its first Playstation3 title Fatal Inertia.

Billed as a racing title that mixes street races, demolition derbies and rallying in a 23rd Century futuristic setting where vehicles no longer require wheels and the laws of physics govern everything, Fatal Inertia marks KOEIâ??s first step into an all-new genre and one with a distinctly Western feel compared to the likes of Dynasty Warriors, Disgaea, etcâ?¦

The game features a wide range of physics based weapons to utilise and promises new ways to use them every time you play. The foundation of Fatal Inertia lies in the physics engine that fully harnesses the power of the Playstation3 to create weapons and environments unlike anything ever seen before; the beautiful environments that you can see in the pictures arenâ??t just scenery, they are there to be used in combat, with rock walls turning into avalanches to use against your opponent and the promise that no race is ever the same.

Weapons in the game arenâ??t used to directly attack opponents but create an array of physical based effects. The vehicles featured in the game are highly customised with a large amount of designs and parts at your disposal, helping to inject a see of personality into the game.

KOEI promises a number of modes will feature in the final game, ranging from several competitive and cooperative modes to a season that lets you win prizes and special items; the team also makes claim of multiplayer modes, although specifics on this (and more to the point whether itâ??ll be online) are currently being kept secretive.

Fatal Inertia is scheduled for release alongside the Playstation3 in Japan during Spring 2006; weâ??ll have further information and a closer look soonâ?¦
