Far Cry 2 Sells A Million News
Ubisoft announces that Far Cry 2 has sold a million copies worldwide less than three weeks after release...

French publisher Ubisoft has announced that its open world FPS Far Cry 2 has sold 1 million copies worldwide across Xbox 360, PS3, and PC platforms. The genre re-defining shooter has reached this landmark less than three weeks after the game's release.
This news comes (perhaps with slightly unfortunate timing) on the same day that Microsoft has announced 2 million Gears of War 2 unit sales in a matter of days. To find out why Far Cry 2 is a bit of a grower rather than the instantly gratifying hit of Microsoft's powerhouse shooter, mosey on down to our review.
"The holiday quarter is off to a solid start with the successful launch of Far Cry 2," said Yves Guillemot, Chief Executive Officer at Ubisoft. "The game is well on track to achieve our expectations for the year."
With one million sales at this early point in the holiday rush, Far Cry 2 has enjoyed a more fruitful beginning than its arch rival Crysis (which eventually rested on around 1.5 million unit sales months after release). However, it's worth remembering that these latest figures are across three platforms rather than the single platform that Crysis was released on.
Having entered the UK charts at Number 2, Ubisoft Montreal's sequel has since quickly dropped to 6 and then 14 in its following two weeks on the charts.

I suspect he is if he's only got one more diamond to find. I guess you'd be pretty lucky to get that many just by stumbling acrosthem :)

Are you using the diamond detector, which is the light on your GPS that starts blinking green when you're near a diamond. The more it blinks, the closer you are, and the green light is continuous if you're directly facing the diamond's position?

That buddy bug is weird. I guess I know what plot choice you'll be making at the end of the first map.

from post 111 im playing the 360 version which to be honest is quite a let down especially as it has frmae rate issues and pop up (objects in the game suddenly appear when your close to them and vanish just as quickly) to be honest i diddnt notice the frame rate dropping till recently.
lol and finding all the diamonds on the 360 only gets you 10g but ive already completed it so now im looking for the diamonds and safe houses, lol a bit like looking for pidgons in gta (takes a while but adds a bit of fun to the game)

@ post 111
I never had any problems with buddies shooting me unprovoked, so I'm not sure what's going on there. I assumed you're too far in to bother with a restart, so just kill them first and carry on - it doesn't really affect the plot, anyway. Also, I didn't bother trying to get all the diamond cases as it was just too time-consuming. I got about 60-odd in my 20 hours with the game, and that was with moderate searching (albeit without a guide). I can't believe you only get a poxy bronze trophy for getting all diamonds in the game; it's really not worth the effort.

does anyone know why buddies start shooting you without you shooting them first, every time i get rescued by my buddie they then turn on me with shot guns and kill me or when i do the buddie part of a mission.
other than that has anyone managed to get all the diamond cases from both the northern and southern maps

I'm having more fun with far cry 2 as time goes on. It does take time to appreciate, to start with the long drives to missions, random ambushes en route and difficulty pinning down where an attack is coming from do annoy. Last night i was up until 4am playing it although, instead of constantly looking at the map i've starting using the colored signpost to navigate it doesnt take long if you floor it! The enviroment of africa is amazing so high a level of detail and the weapons are very well done. If you like fps games and are willing to keep going back and playing now and again far cry 2 in my experience will reward you. Cohete77

You don't save them. The XP system only levels up for one session, which is why the levelling up is quite quick compared to other multiplayer shooters.
The aim is to make it easier for newcomers, so they can get the full loadout for one class in a relatively short period of time. It then encourages more frequent players to try different classes as they play more sessions.
