Freakin' Precious Family Guy Details News

Thirteen months after it was initially announced, 2K Games has today released a few crumbs of information on the forthcoming Family Guy game, based on Seth MacFarlane's animated comedy.

Confirmed for the current-generation, Family Guy is being developed by Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude creators, High Voltage, with an anticipated release period in Autumn 2006.

2K Games and 20th Century Fox also confirm that players will control three key characters from the Griffin family, Peter, Stewie, and Brian the talking dog, as they go on their action/adventure around the town of Quahog, Rhode Island.

"The irreverent and satirical Family Guy humour that has made the show a smash hit opens up exciting and untapped possibilities in game development," said Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games. "We are looking forward to bringing the colourful Family Guy characters to life in a one-of-a-kind action/adventure style game."

Elie Dekel, Executive Vice President, Fox Licensing and Merchandising added, "2K Games really understands the distinct humour and unique voice of Family Guy. We're confident that they will develop a hilarious and entertaining game for fans of the show as well as for gamers."

Whether High Voltage will be able to adapt the comedy to suit a videogame will be seen in the coming months, but it'll have to form a core part of the game if it's to become anything more than just another generic licensed action/adventure title.
