Bethesda decides to show PS3 owners some DLC love and confirms two new packs heading to all formats...

The decision to opt for exclusive DLC is rapidly becoming this generation's battleaxe for fanboys to grind.  Bethesda's decision to cosy up with Microsoft and release Fallout 3 DLC exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC drew such a line for format fanboys to bicker over, but it seems such ranting was ultimately pointless with today's confirmation that the content will finally be making its way to the PlayStation3.

Bethesda assures us they've been working on the implementation for a while, with an impending title update providing the ability to download Operation: Anchorage in June via the PlayStation Store.  The Pitt and Broken Steel will follow afterwards with a gap of 4-6 weeks between each.  No word yet on pricing details.

However that's not all.  Removing the end game condition with the release of Broken Steel seems to be the catalyst for lots more Fallout action from Bethesda, with the announcement of two new DLC packs heading to Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and PC later in the year.

Point Lookout will appear in late June and adds a massive new swampland area to explore, teaming with new quests and content.  Mothership Zeta challenges you to escape from an alien abduction to see whether you're tough enough to survive and presumably escape any painful examinations.  Early information suggests the aliens are pissed off about something; perhaps they're coming to investigate the alien crash site?

Both Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta will launch on Xbox 360 (800 Microsoft Points) and PC first, followed on the PlayStation3 after the release of the three original packs.

And if that's not enough Fallout 3 news for you, then we can also confirm Bethesda's plans to release the downloadable content in disc form at retailers.  Add-On Pack #1 contains The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage and will be released on June 12th; Add-On Pack #2 due for release in August includes Broken Steel and Point Lookout.  The Add-On packs will only be released for Xbox 360 and PC.

Finally, Fallout 3 will be getting the Game of the Year treatment, containing the original game and all five DLC packs in October for Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and PC.

Ummm, you're on about Fallout: New Vegas - it's not Fallout 4, Bethesda are developing that.  Obsidian are doing New Vegas, and the team comprises of many former Black Isle staff who worked on the first two Fallout titles. Fallout: New Vegas was announced back in April - it is NOT Falloout 4!

When is bethesda studios going to release fall out 4....? thwey were so sucessfull on all the fall out's if they produce fall out 4 soon so many people will want to buy it and they can just keep making more. But they should add more stuff and make it in a diffrent area instead of just in the capital waiste land! And the ending of fall out 3 is really horibble no offence they could of came up with something else. i wrapped it and i was so dissapointed but the i guve the game 5 stars.

Fallout 3 is indeed a good game in a 1st Person shooter with roleplay elements point of view. It's just not Fallout.
