Peter Molyneux announces Fable III at Microsoft's GamesCom address in Germany...

As many had guessed from the ongoing teasers on Lionhead's website over the past week, Microsoft Europe's Creative Director, Peter Molyneux has revealed at GamesCom that Fable III is in development and is due for release towards the end of next year.

It seems that the revolutionary figures seen on Lionhead's teaser site are an indication of the themes in Fable III's story, as gamers will undertake a journey to become the ruler of a Napoleonic-themed world of Albion in this third Fable game.

Playing as the offspring of their Fable II hero, gamers will be able to rule Albion either tyrannically or with the feathered touch of an enlightened ruler (i.e. it'll be the standard good versus bad choice, only with added monarchical powers).

"We've spent a lot of time at Lionhead thinking about how we can innovate the gameplay and progress the world of the 'Fable' games for its third chapter, and we're confident that players won't second-guess what we have planned for 'Fable III,'" said Molyneux. "Though I can't give too much away right now, players should expect to have to make much tougher choices with far wider consequences than ever before in Albion - and with many more interactive adventure elements."

Molyneux also stated during Microsoft's GamesCom keynote that Fable II will be released on Xbox Live episodically, with the first of five chapters being made available to download for free. All five episodes are set for release on September 29th and will be compatible with existing Fable II DLC.

Microsoft ruined windows gaming when they tied directx 10 to purchasing Vista.  They reap what the sow, but actually we were the ones screwed, along with game publishers.
