An alternative-reality multi-terrain racer with the biggest environments yet...

Codemasters increasingly bloated racing line-up received another title today with confirmation that the UK publisher has signed Asobo Studios FUEL for the Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and PC.

Set in an alternative reality on a world that has been ravaged by the effects of climate change, oil prices have shot through the roof (perhaps not too alternative then), breeding a new type of race junkie taking to their wastelands, pitting their home-tuned vehicles against each other to win fuel supplies.

Promising the largest environments to feature in a multi-terrain racer, FUEL is built upon Asobo Studios' cutting-edge proprietary engine that offers environments up to 5,000 square miles. From the tsunami-wrecked Pacific coast to the Nevada wastelands, a dynamic weather system adds further drama with full day-to-night transitions, brilliant sunshine, torrential rain, and destructive tornados, sandstorms, thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and blizzards.

Tricks and death defying stunts are a major element of the game as players compete across wildly different terrain on a variety of two and four-wheeled vehicles.

"FUEL raises the bar in terms of scale and exhilaration for racing games. We begin with the largest racing environment to appear in gaming - ever. With our accelerated effects of climate change and dynamic weather system we add an extra dimension that change races on-the-fly and constantly presents new challenges to players," said Sebastian Wloch, Chief Executive Officer, Asobo Studios.

"Player choice lies at the heart of FUEL's action-packed races and with a huge range of vehicles, packs of up to 16 vehicles speeding across diverse terrain and a no-boundaries, no-limits approach to racing, means players have never had so much freedom to conquer the wilderness and take the chequered flag."

"The technology Asobo Studios has developed to build FUEL is ground-breaking. To create a game on this unprecedented scale to this level of graphical quality, complete with all the dynamic weather effects, is a great achievement," said Barry Jafrato, Senior Vice President of Brand, Codemasters. "FUEL had to be a special title for Codemasters to include in our racing portfolio and we believe that from both a gameplay and a technical perspective, FUEL compliments our long standing tradition of driving excellence."

FUEL is making its debut at Leipzig Games Convention so expect a beefy first look soon.

This has to be one of the most comprehensible and thorough reviews of a videogame I've ever read. When it comes to multiplayer games on PC, I generally buy two copies at a time, one for me and one for a close buddy, so as we could both game online. It's thanks to reviews such as these that I'm able to save two times the cost of a game that nor I nor my buddy would probably enjoy online. Thank you TVG for writing such detailed reviews.
Anonymous comments on websites are another plus. Creating user accounts to post 1 comment on 1 website each time is frankly ridiculous.

warning the ps3 version is buggy, try to cross from 1 side of the map to the other and the game will crash, get it on 360 and youll experience no problems at all.

for anyone who bought this on the 360 if your having trouble completing races when starting a race just wait till you hear GO and press the back button then press the LB button till your on the car select menu and choose a car or bike better suited/makes it easier to win that race/challenge and to use the dragster just do the challenge with the dragster once you hear GO press the xbox guide button and join a friend/recent players game and you can use the dragster anywhere on free roam JUST DONT FORGET IF YOU CHANGE CARS AFTER DOING THE GLITCH YOULL NEED TO DO THE DRAGSTER CHALLENGE AGAIN TO GET IT AGAIN DOING THE SAME GLITCH.

hope thisw helps even though now that ive got all the cars i cant be bothered getting all the other achievements as the game that boring ive gone back to burnout paradise getting 3000 plus degree flat spins.
