FIFA Street returns with its first journey onto the next-gen machines and a range of new features...

EA has announced that they will be releasing the next instalment in the FIFA Street series, FIFA Street 3, for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 during spring of next year. The game is due to feature a whole range of new features such as caricatured players and online play.

Under development at EA Canada, FIFA Street 3 will boast 250 of the world's best players from an assortment of 18 international teams. In a first for the series, online play will be on offer and players will be able to contribute to a league of international teams similar to the Interactive Leagues in the main FIFA games.

With the series making the jump to the next-gen consoles, EA Canada has adopted the NBA Street Homecourt engine for FIFA Street 3, while adding the AI from the main FIFA game to ensure that the game reaches the standards of today's competitive next-gen market.

The series has also seen a complete stylistic makeover, with player appearance taking a step away from their previously lifelike looks, to a more caricatured appearance. Players also have their own unique abilities such as the Trickster, Enforcer, Playmaker and Finisher.

"We have completely re-invented the FIFA Street franchise by turning the game's biggest stars into action heroes using art direction that makes you look twice," said Joe Nickolls, Producer on the project. "The power of the Next Generation hardware gives us the horsepower to break new ground for consumers, making it the perfect stage to enjoy a multi-player, sports action arcade experience. Casual gamers and sports fans can expect a simplified control system that makes it easier to perform spectacular moves and enjoy the game with friends, yet still be a challenging experience for more seasoned gamers."

Interestingly, TVG recently sat down with Joe Nickolls to talk about FIFA Street 3 and the Q&A feature can be found here.

What's with not making the game available on the psp. Not everyone can afford xbox's and playstation 3's. My son is nost dissapointed that he has to wait until we can afford to purchase the relevant games machine before he can have this game.

The new looks are really nice: it reminds me of the overexagerrated look of NFL Street one-
