Retail price war leads to massive markdowns for FIFA 10, with Tesco offering the title for a mere £24.97...

UK Supermarket Tesco is currently offering EA's FIFA 10 at £24.97, which is a markdown of 50% from the game's RRP of £49.99, while other retailers have attempted to follow suit with similar price reductions.

We purchased our copies at the store this morning from a promotional display that was setup front and centre at our local Tesco Direct but, if you can't be bothered to make the journey, then there's always the online option via the TVG Store.

There's no indication of how long the promotion will run for, although we have contacted Tesco's PR outlet for information and will update this article should we receive a reply. An MCV report from earlier this week alleged that the offer would be available for one weekend only.

The trade site is today reporting that other UK supermarkets such as Morrisons and Asda are also getting in on the FIFA 10 price plummet (£24.99 and £26.71 respectively), although we have no independent confirmation of this. According to Asda's website, it's selling the game at £34.71.

How can you give gameplay a %95 when any player knows any other players location in the pitch? (playing Manual) ex. If you are a defender facing to your goalkeeper and want to pass to a winger, the pass always goes to the foot of the winger, like the defender knows his location exactly. Everyone is passing like Messi, shoots are really bad, ball physics have really nothing to mention. Every attack is the same with the AI, they just run to empty spaces. Go watch a real football game and see if something like this really happens?. Even in Legendary, when you understand this, you should't concede any more goals. Any opposition defender can take the ball from even the strongest attackers 1to1. There's no chance without a "trick" to pass a defender. This is not realistic either. Graphics are really bad, especially faces. The only good thing is the atmosphere. So please, rate it correctly. It's a 6/10 game, nothing more.

well, all I can say is I'm glad I only rented Fifa 10 - the gameplay is promising and if this were a tech demo I'd be excited - but the bugs and stunning lack of polish (for example, the commentary constantly lacks context and even contradicts itself from blurb to blurb)

I have to raise an eyebrow when I see it merits a perfect score here, some fairly low standards wouldn't you say?  What would a game without bugs in major features garner?  11/10 mayhaps?

Come on, EA is paying too much for the rating. Fifa can never compare to PES in gameplay.
