EA Sports' Photo Game Face technology comes to FIFA 10 in a new Virtual Pro mode...

FIFA 10's Producer, David Rutter has just revealed a new mode for FIFA 10 at EA's GamesCom keynote address in Germany. The new Virtual Pro feature will incorporate EA's Photo Game Face technology into FIFA for the first time.

The technology, which allows a user to upload a photo of their face into the game and paste their likeness onto an in-game avatar, has been previously used in EA Sports' Tiger Woods series.

Once players have uploaded their player likeness, this avatar can then be used across all of FIFA 10's modes from online games to the Be A Pro mode. Gamers can then build up the skills of their Virtual Pro and even unlock achievements for their player by completing certain in-game challenges such as scoring a goal from long range.

An additional Pro Club Championship mode will open up the opportunity to take your Virtual Pro online and join a team, or even get scouted by other online team's based on your performance.

By the looks of things, these new Virtual Pro and Pro Club Championship features will act as significant expansions to FIFA 09's existing Clubs and Be A Pro features, both of which were very promising in last year's game but lacked solid implementation.

David Rutter also revealed new filters for FIFA 10's online multiplayer, allowing players to filter matches by the sort of team's they will be facing (e.g. the skill level or playing speed of the opposition side). There was even the opportunity to announce a return of Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium to FIFA in this year's iteration.

How can you give gameplay a %95 when any player knows any other players location in the pitch? (playing Manual) ex. If you are a defender facing to your goalkeeper and want to pass to a winger, the pass always goes to the foot of the winger, like the defender knows his location exactly. Everyone is passing like Messi, shoots are really bad, ball physics have really nothing to mention. Every attack is the same with the AI, they just run to empty spaces. Go watch a real football game and see if something like this really happens?. Even in Legendary, when you understand this, you should't concede any more goals. Any opposition defender can take the ball from even the strongest attackers 1to1. There's no chance without a "trick" to pass a defender. This is not realistic either. Graphics are really bad, especially faces. The only good thing is the atmosphere. So please, rate it correctly. It's a 6/10 game, nothing more.

well, all I can say is I'm glad I only rented Fifa 10 - the gameplay is promising and if this were a tech demo I'd be excited - but the bugs and stunning lack of polish (for example, the commentary constantly lacks context and even contradicts itself from blurb to blurb)

I have to raise an eyebrow when I see it merits a perfect score here, some fairly low standards wouldn't you say?  What would a game without bugs in major features garner?  11/10 mayhaps?

Come on, EA is paying too much for the rating. Fifa can never compare to PES in gameplay.
