EA confirms the release of 'FIFA 09 Ultimate Team' mode; dream team competition expected in mid-March...

Electronic Arts has today confirmed that a new mode for FIFA 09, 'FIFA 09 Ultimate Team', will be available to download from Xbox Live and PlayStation Network from March 19th.

Sounding like a crazy cross between Fantasy Football and Magic: The Gathering, FIFA 09 Ultimate Team will give players the opportunity to collect virtual playing cards, create the ultimate starting line up of footballers, add tactics and managerial prowess, and them test them out against the dream teams of other players online.

A selection of customisation options will be available, with club badges, names, and kits, all available to change.  Players can compete in matches both online and offline, and collect increasingly valuable cards to build up a squad of footballing dreams.

“Online is the next great frontier in sports gaming. We are seeing a record number of individuals globally playing FIFA 09 online so we are focused on developing games that maximize the online experience,” said Andrew Wilson, Vice President & Executive Producer for the franchise. “A dedicated team developed FIFA 09 Ultimate Team and they have created a game within the game, delivering a strategic new way to play FIFA 09 that will create hundreds of additional hours of playing time.”

EA has revealed that over one and quarter matches of FIFA 09 are played online daily, representing an incredible increase of 321% over last year's effort – over 141 million units have been completed since the game launched in September 2008.

A five match demo will be available for players to try out, with the option of buying the mode afterwards.  If you haven't guessed, a full version of FIFA 09 is required to play the new mode.

minimum ram should be the least of your worrys if you have 3 or more gb and your using win xp/vista 32bit edittion then anymore ram is pointless as windows doesnt recognise any more ram if you have the 64bit version however then having 3gb or more is ok cause it recognises the memory, other than that if your graphics card/cpu are of a low budget pc then youll have to run the game with every thing on low settings so youll need a cpu like a core 2 duo and a graphics card like an x3850 to be able to make it look like what it does on a console like the 360 or ps3.

I'm not entirely sure whether "minimum" and "ideal" go hand in hand, but you're looking at least 1GB to get something approaching decent play.
