SEGA Japan's Osamu Ohashi mulls over the possibility of another F-Zero game...

Since it originally launched for the SNES back in the early 90s, cult-classic velocity racer, F-Zero subsequently led to the release of two flagship sequels on Nintendo home consoles, firstly with F-Zero X for the N64 in 1998 and then F-Zero GX for Gamecube in 2003.

Consequently, the Gamecube iteration marked the first collaboration between SEGA and Nintendo on a video game. At a recent preview event for a more contemporary SEGA/Nintendo collaboration, Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, we took the opportunity to ask a roundtable of SEGA developers about the possibility of another F-Zero game collaboration between the two companies (incidentally, one of the developers, Eigo Kasahara worked as a Planner on F-Zero GX).

"It might happen, if someone comes up with a brilliant idea that would make both Nintendo and SEGA happy," said Mario & Sonic's Chief Producer, Osamu Ohashi. "If there's a good idea, that will work for both of us, then we might do that. But as far as we know, we haven't heard of any concrete plan or project that's going on."

There you have it. If you want another F-Zero game then start a few internet petitions, form a community online, and post overly enthusiastic requests on comment boards with wild abandon. Then, and only then will you start to turn some corporate heads.
