Subscription based console put back to next year. Developers deny problems in preparing for the service’s launch…
After aiming for a November release of its Phantom console in North America, Infinium has confirmed that it is to delay its launch until the New Year; this follows on from consultations between the company, and various retailers around the continent.
Defending the decision, Infiniumâ??s President, Kevin Bachus, said that "Retailers gear their fourth quarter holiday promotions around gift-giving opportunitiesâ?¦and they feel, as we do, that our service will not be bought primarily as a gift for someone else. It will more likely be a self-purchase."
The console was set to be released in Europe in 2005 following the US release, but now that the device has been delayed, a specific European release date is still unknown.
There are some who are wholly sceptical of the Phantom, even believing that the console may never be released at all.
