Disney Interactive and Junction Point's Epic Mickey game will no longer feature the 'Scrapper' Mickey Mouse character...

When Disney and Junction Point Studios introduced Epic Mickey to us last year, they demoed three separate character models of Mickey Mouse that arose in the game depending on how you played it. There was the classic, happy-go-lucky Mickey who emerged if you played the game creatively, the 'Mischievous'/'Scrapper' Mickey that resulted from destructive play, or a third Mickey that was essentially a mix of the two.

However, due to some annoying focus group work that's been going on, Junction Point has now decided to can the 'Scrapper' Mickey character and reduce the game to two models: the classic Mickey mentioned above and a new character that takes on a "smudgy look" according to The Mainichi Daily News.

"We're not going to change Mickey's image so much," confirmed Junction Point's Warren Spector before he went on to explain how focus group sessions have returned negative feedback for the 'Scrapper' Mickey character.

"People don't like it when you mess with Mickey," he continued. "We did a focus test that was really eye-opening for me. There was a biker dude saying, 'Oh, I'd never play a Mickey Mouse game,' and then we showed him images of a changed Mickey. I was sitting there thinking, 'You're gonna love what we do,' but he said, 'No! Don't mess with my childhood.'"

There's your problem, Warren. Your asking bikers what they think of Epic Mickey rather than gamers!

hmm then epic mickey is just like GT5, over hyped and sucked, it may have reasonable reviews but if the people reviewing it had actually wasted their time trying to get their driver profile to level 40 they would have seen just how dull and boring it is, the preowned car store is a joke along with the standard cars and the 2 ferrari F1 cars are pointless (can only be raced in specific Ferrari F1 races, not in either a or b spec modes) and the shadows and popup is astonishing for such a high profile game, GT5 was definatly over hyped and definatly sucks (just watch all the GT fanboys jump on me for this knowing its all true but their in denial).

"just plain dumb" lol are you trying to be funny or what, the Wii has nearly 80 million users worldwide that's nearly double the user base of the 360 so whats so dumb about that, the Wii has a much bigger market share than the 360, if the 360 had the biggest market share the game would be exclusive to the 360 not the Wii but as its the opposite way round and the Wii has the biggest market share then only expect a 360 version later on next year towards Q3 2011 would be a fair guess.

Tup. Hoping for an Xbox 360 version! They are just plain dumb if they don't release it on the 360.
