Warren Spector's vision of Mickey Mouse is spotted in the latest issue of Game Informer...

Previously teased and already generating more enthusiasm than the entire Wii's slate of forthcoming titles combined, Disney Interactive Studio and Junction Point Studios have finally confirmed the existence of Epic Mickey.

Game Informer has the lowdown on the title, which puts the iconic Disney character into new territory under the watchful eye of Warren Spector.

A little confusion has been caused by the initial GI news article referring to the title as a Wii exclusive, but then removing any such reference.

Expect futher details soon and hopefully we'll be checking the game out in the not too distant future.

Update: The first story details have now emerged via EG, which reveals that Epic Mickey charts the fall of famous Disney cartoon characters who find themselves mired in a forgotten world when people no longer remember or care about them.

In this forgotten world, Mickey has to avoid The Phantom Blot, which has been set upon him by Oswald the Rabbit (the original, and long forgotten Disney character who is bitter of Mickey's success and now rules this forgotten world).

Cue some exploration, puzzles, and platforming with the aid of Mickey's artistic tools, which include a paint brush and eraser. These are mapped to gestures on the Wii Remote and help Mickey fight The Blot, which makes colours in the Disney universe run and fade (this explains the GI cover shot above).

In the game, Mickey will have "his first makeover in years," according to an undisclosed Disney source. "That's why no one's seen his face yet. But he's far more retro than you've seen him for years."
