The first batch of info on Ninja Theory's next title, Enslaved has emerged via US mag Game Informer...
The first details on Ninja Theory's next game, Enslaved have been revealed via the latest issue of Game Informer, which lifts the lid on a dystopian sci-fi storyline based on a classic Chinese novel.
This novel is Journey to the West, which was written during China's Ming Dynasty in the 16th century AD. The western translation of the novel is commonly called Monkey (as was a cult Japanese TV series from the 70s that was based on the book), which is undoubtedly why Ninja Theory has chosen the name Monkey for its lead character.
Andy Serkis will provide the voice over and mo-cap work for Monkey (as he did with King Bohan in Heavenly Sword), and will be depicting a character who's been spending his life on the run from machines that are programmed to kill humans on site.
The third and fourth world wars have all but wiped out the human race and Monkey's story is picked up when he's captured by the machines and placed on an airship with a female character called Trip.
Monkey is knocked unconscious as he escapes the airship with Trip and wakes up donning a headband that can crush his skull. The headband has been put there by Trip, who uses it to control Monkey so that she can use him to return home (a clear homage to the 70s TV series).
Enslaved's script is being written by Alex Garland, who previously wrote the novels The Beach and The Tesseract, as well as movie scripts for 28 Days Later and Sunshine. Garland also drafted a script for the beached Halo movie back in 2005.
This is the first game project for Garland, although his previous works such as The Beach have made references to videogame culture. In particular, The Beach contains some well observed nods to Street Fighter II and Nintendo's Gameboy.

Nothing has been officially confirmed, though the rumours suggest a multi-format title and CG movie are next on the list for Ninja Theory. I'd just like an XBLA update to Kung-Fu Chaos, that game rocked...

I thought it was announced months ago that their next game would be multiplatform? But that they would be returning with a PS3 exclusive sequel to Heavenly Sword after it which would follow a different lead character?
