Enemy Territory expands into a new id franchise to begin the Quake Wars...

Itâ??s rather typical that after waiting years for a new Quake title, two are unveiled at E3 and not just one. As well as Quake IV (stay posted for a TVG First Look Preview later), Activision has also used the E3 event to unveil Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, which is the next instalment of the Enemy Territory franchise that began with Wolfenstein.

Following a Strogg invasion of Earth, gamers must fight to push the enemy aliens off the planet over multi-battle campaigns with a wide range of weapons and over 40 different vehicles.

Announcing the game, Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software said, â??For years, fans have enjoyed incredible battles on the Strogg home planet; but with ENEMY TERRITORY: QUAKE WARS, weâ??re taking players back to the war that started it all â?“ the Strogg invasion of Earth â?“ where the choice is to fight with the humans or the alien Strogg in a massive campaign for survivalâ?¦Like all great id Software games, ENEMY TERRITORY: QUAKE WARS unites bleeding-edge technology, a fantastic universe, and meticulously balanced gameplay to deliver an engrossing and futuristic gaming experience.â?

â??We have been so proud of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territoryâ??sâ?¢ rave reviews, â??Game of the Yearâ?? awards, and massive fan-base, so to work with id again in developing ENEMY TERRITORY: QUAKE WARS is an amazing opportunity.â? states Paul Wedgwood, Lead Game Designer and Owner of Splash Damage Ltd. â??The stories of the Strogg invasion of Earth have always fascinated me, and now through ENEMY TERRITORY: QUAKE WARS, weâ??re able to bring this incredible war to life with an uncompromising level of detail and realism.â?

Weâ??ll have some footage of the game shortly, but to whet your appetites Activision has also released a screenshot of the title.

I have been playing the demo a lot, and it is very good. I think that keeping the graphics high and destructable terrain out has opened it up to people who dont have the highest spec machines. It is much more engaging than the BF series, everything feels more of a team effort. Great looking (run on a 8800GTS i have all on highest and get 100+ fps!) and great gameplay, cant ask for much more. A definate buy for me and would recommend.

So does anybody play this game? Wasn't quite as good as I was expecting after all the years of waiting.
